The Brothers Bloom Poster is Hand Drawn; Big Deal

Apparently this movie poster for The Brothers Bloom is hand drawn by director Rian Johnson’s cousin, to which I say, big friggin’ deal.  Adrein Brody looks like he has a birth defect, and the normally very attractive Rachel Weisz looks like a zombie.  A junkie zombie, at that.  And Ruffalo looks like her dealer.  I have never heard of the other actress in this movie, so I can’t comment on her appearance in the poster, but I’ll play it safe and say it looks nothing like her.  My cousin has done so much meth that he doesn’t even know what year it is, and I guarantee that he’s the type of person you want drawing your poster.  Not this guy.

OK, I can’t hide my jealousy.  This poster is awesome and my dreams of being a comic book artist were dashed years ago, hence my insecurities seeping through onto this website.

This is a great poster. hand drawn design is a nearly lost art. the illustration and rendering are spectacular. it follows a very specific style and does so elegantly. the border/ frame is intracate and BEAUTIFUL.

why should it be such a big deal to have the attractiveness exaggerated? the faces were rendered that way for a reason, and i guarantee the poster was cleared by an endless amount of editors who think it represents the purpose it was created to. most movie posters are so airbrushed and electronically altered any way ( eg angels and demons).

I applaud the design team and art director who made this poster happen. i hope it initiates a trend of more hand drawn work
