Prince of Persia and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell is set to helm “The Box of Delights,” according to Variety:

Brit Mike Newell will direct “The Box of Delights,” based on John Masefield’s classic 1930s children’s novel about a boy entrusted with a magic box that allows him to travel through time.

This sounds like it’s going to be a children’s movie, which is unfortunate.  Little kids don’t know anything and are generally more trouble than they’re worth.  Would a little kid who could travel back in time buy a sports almanac and make millions of dollars?  No.  Would he hit on the girl he likes, now knowing what her interests and passions are?  Of course not.  Would he find his past self, do some bi-curious stuff and then claim it isn’t gay because “it’s with yourself?”  Definitely not.  And that’s why this movie will be a waste.
