What the Hell Happened to Kevin Spacey?

I’m always skeptical of any internet news I read on April Fool’s Day, but I think this latest bit of info is legit, unfortunately. Once great acting legend Kevin Spacey has a new project on the horizon, and who is he collaborating with?

Kevin Spacey will star in and produce the indie comedy “Father of Invention.” Trent Cooper (”Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector”) will direct from a script he penned with Jonathan Krane and Nichole Beattie.

Story centers on a humble inventor-turned-egomaniacal billionaire who loses it all when one of his inventions goes horribly awry. After eight years in federal prison, he returns bankrupt, homeless and determined to rebuild his reputation and fortune.

He’s teaming with the director of LARRY THE CABLE GUY? I’m sorry, what’s next, Tom Hanks collaborating with Uwe Boll? Denzel Washington and Brett Ratner?

It’s strange to see the star of Se7en, The Usual Suspects and American Beauty here at this level, although to be fair his last few projects (21, The Life of David Gale and dear lord, K-Pax) probably should have been an indicator of something like this.

But who knows, maybe Father of Invention will be his return to form and he’ll storm Sundance and then the Oscars. Which will happen right after that Denzel/Ratner partnership is announced.

Trent Cooper is the guy who directed Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector not actually Larry the Cable Guy. Not that having they guy who voluntarily directed a LtCG Joint is much better but I’d be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because after all we’ve all got bills to pay.

I just realized that I miss read and you knew that this wasn’t LtCG himself, I still stand by the rest of my comment though.
