Six Intros from TGIF Shows to Take You Back

You have to remember TGIF. Before Battlestar Galactica and Friday Night Lights, there was a whole other reason to watch TV on Fridays, ABC’s family comedy lineup. It changed a lot throughout the years, but it’s catalog of shows remains unparalleled to this day. Except maybe when NBC had Friends AND Seinfeld, but hey whatever.

Here are the six shows that stand out most in my mind as TGIF classics, and I guarantee you’ll feel a pang of nostalgia when you hear each intro. I honestly think any of the current networks would see better ratings if they ran these shows instead of their current lineup. Agreed?

1) Perfect Strangers

I didn’t know that this show actually spun off this next show…

2) Family Matters

By far my favorite on this list. Steve Urkel and Carl Winslow remain as two of my favorite TV characters to this day.

3) Full House

Back when the Olson twins were bearable and John Stamos was the coolest man on the planet. Oh wait, he still is.

4) Step by Step

I never actually watched the show for more than ten minutes, but I always caught the intro (which I now have memorized) because it was on after Family Matters.

5) Boy Meets World

Is there really other show that better represents growing up in the ’90s? I think not.

6) Sabrina the Teenage Witch

Oh Melissa Joan Hart, you were never as hot as Topenga.

I agree with your statement on Boy Meets World and your comparison of Topanga and Sabrina. Topanga is way hotter.

I disagree with the assertion that the Olsen twins were ever bearable.
