Surprise: NBC’s Kings Gets Destroyed in the Ratings

Well I had thought that Kings would have a better chance of surviving the chopping block because of it’s Sunday (rather than Friday) timeslot and it’s non-affiliation with Fox, but it turns out nothing may be able to save it, even after one episode.

Kings turned out to be the lowest rated show for the entire night on Sunday on any network in any timeslot.

Ouch.

Why? Well, there’s the simple fact that people are idiots and new shows like Lie to Me will end up running for five seasons (OMG solving crimes with science? GTFO!) while potentially interesting new dramas like Kings will get axed without so much as a second look.

I’m coming to realize that I don’t always blame the networks when shows like this get canceled, I mean what choice do they really have with ratings that abysmal? I blame stupid America and it’s obssesion with awful ****ing television. Stupid America  had a heavy hand in killing Arrested Development, Firefly, Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Jericho and a graveyard of other excellent shows. Could Kings have been among them? I’m guessing we won’t even get the chance to find out.

While I agree with you that America is RETARTED and doesn’t watch some AWESOME shows (like Arrested Development, Firefly, Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared), Kings wasn’t all that good. I mean, it’s a Bible story … just “repackaged” for modern times … but it’s not a very interesting part of the Bible … check it out:

If you’re going to make a show about Bible stories … there are much better ones out there. …

I will say that Kings had some unimpressive moments. However, I found it a much welcome change in programing; and was looking forward to watching it over the next few weeks.

I do blame “retarded American” viewers that lack the intelligence to watch anything original. I equally blame the networks for pulling the plug on such content and feeding into their obsession by producing countless CSI clones and reality TV.

I fear that original programing no longer has a place on network TV, when shows such as ‘Pushing Daises’ and ‘Terminator: Sara Connor Chronicles’ struggle to find an audience. Meanwhile, ‘Heroes’, which is just been waiting for someone to put it out of its misery, cycles the same plot devises every few episodes.

    FTFY, Steve.

The show sucks so hard I could use it to vacuum my entire home and still do the interior of my car and the neighbor’s too.

    Staggeringly dumb.

The show blows so hard it could bust out the windows in the front and the back of my house with just one swift gust.

    Tee hee.

While I agree with your point to “blame stupid America and it’s obssesion with awful ****ing television” for the cancellation of really good shows, I take offense that Lie to Me is included in your rant. Yes, it’s another show where science solves crime, but the type of science used to solve crime is different from those of other shows. I generally like crime dramas (other than The Eleventh Hour which really should be canned even if I do find the lead to be totally hot), but Lie to Me –with a bit of strengthening of the writing to not include plot holes within an episode and silly, easily verified factual information–is worth sticking around.

We only tuned in becuse we heard it was soooooo good. Well we lost interest after the first 1/2 hour …it was rather dismal and boring. i’m not sying it should be axed but this family won’t be watching it again.
