Alright, first of all, let me say, is that really the DVD box art for this movie? I mean, I know it was the eighties, but my four year old cousin probably could have made a more professional looking image in her arts and crafts time.
Anyways, what was I talking about again? Oh yeah. Well I’m trying to culture myself on all things eighties so I can adequately fit in at the hipster parties I seem to keep attending, so I watched Teen Witch the other day, where I witnessed the legendary “top that!” dance scene for the first time. After a little searching I found some great covers of it that I’ve decided to share with you. Enjoy:
1) The Original
As good as all these are, nothing beats the original which you need as a point of reference before watching the others. This might singlehandedly be one of the greatest movie clips to ever come out of the ’80s.
“Look how funky he is!”
2) World of Warcraft
Man, you really can do anything with World of Warcraft character models can’t you? I was extremely impressed with how well this turned out.
You would think a student cover of the original would be pretty bad, but honestly I think it’s got much higher production values and much better syncing than the original.
4) 30 Rock
This was an “ohhh yeahhh” moment for me when I found this clip of Kenneth singing the tail end of the rap on 30 Rock.
5) Teen Witch Live!
They made a Teen Witch live show? Dear lord, how is this not on Broadway yet?
I looked pretty hard, but if you’ve got any better ones, let me know and I’ll post them. You might even call this a challenge.
