By having a married man having an affair, the race of the two people involved didn't really matter -- the relationship was doomed from the start. So Spike can't really touch on how they can make it work, he's coming at it with an agenda and sets it up to fail. Speaking of Pulp Fiction as one poster brought up, I think it's interesting that the Tarantino character is actually marriaged to a person of color. It's not really made an issue of (which is how it should be), and you only notice it during the fantasy sequences of her coming home.
