Samuel L. Jackson Signs With Marvel…for NINE MOVIES

Look Sam, I know you’re trying to set the world record for “Most Onscreen Appearances Ever,” but was it really necessary to sign with Marvel for NINE movies playing Nick Fury?
Apparently, Jackson is set to don the eyepatch in Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers, the S.H.I.E.L.D. movie and any sequels that any of these movies spawn. Good lord.
See here’s the thing, I like Samuel L. Jackson, but I’ll be damned if I can remember the last time he was good in a something. He’s been in tons of sh*t during his film career, and I don’t mean sh*t in the “stuff” sense, I mean literal sh*t. Brace yourself, because this is about to turn into a rant:
I decided to go to his IMDB real quickly and scan down the last ten years or so to see out of his forty (count ‘em FORTY) film appearances, which of them have actually been, you know, good.
I’ve got:
Black Snake Moan (which everyone but me hated)
Snakes on a Plane (where he’s playing a caricature of himself)
Unbreakable (but probably just because I like that movie)
and Shaft (because he was born to do that remake, although the movie itself kind of sucked)
That’s like 36 other mostly useless movies. I mean what was your favorite Samuel L. Jackson role recently? Mace Windu? Creepy bellhop guy from 1408? Head of the government’s elite XXX program? White haired anti-teleportation dude in Jumper? I mean, seriously. Just because the guy will agree to be in your movie, that does not mean you should cast him.

Uh, classic?
I love Pulp Fiction as much as the next guy, but it’s really shocking to see that he really does not have that many truly classic movie roles for all of the 122 credits he has to his name. He’s an iconic actor yes, but I’m starting to wonder why exactly that is.

Not to mention he yells all his lines. They need to stop casting actors that look like the comics because most of the time it doesn’t work out. Look at daredevil for example.
yes but seeing as the ultimate version of nick fury was designed and based on samuel l. jackson there is no way he should be able to screw this up since he’s basically playing himself
Didn’t like him much in the oh so popular flick of my students “Coach Carter”?
Resurrecting The Champ is definitely one of my top 5 Sam L. movies. He doesn’t scream in any of his lines. (Quite the opposite actually) Overall I think you all should see it. Here’s the IMDB for that: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416185/ Check it out when you get the chance. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Considering that Nick Fury has been a white guy for the last 70 years of his life in comics, I’d have to say they did not cast Jackson because he looks the part.
I saw him in Lakeview Terrace a few months ago; I rather enjoyed both his character and the film due to the fact that I had expected it to be a horrible movie.
They cast Sam as Nick Fury because the artist used him as their model for the “Ultimate” line of comics
“A Time To Kill” was simply a fabulous movie, and he did a great job in it. I do think he’s kind of just riding his fame now though.
nick fury? although i think that sgt. fury has been portrayed as an african american in one of the cartoon movies based on marvel characters (ultimate avengers?) the casting of mr. jackson in this iconic role is rather puzzeling.
according to my handy dandy marvel reference guide, sgt. fury was born before 1918 and takes a rejuvination serum to keep himself young and spry. mr. jackson is actually too old for the role.
sam jackson playing david hasselhoff playing nick fury. david did the tv movie on fury once upon a time.
i want dr. strange.
I don’t really mind it i guess i’m a lil indifferent but at least there will be consistency I couldn’t watch a hero movie where a main character is played by a different actor or actress each time.
