Dead Space Extraction Trailer Has Me All Torn Up Inside

WAGGLE! WAGGLE DAMN IT!

First watch the trailer here after the jump. Now let’s talk. I have to say, I don’t think I’ve seen a game trailer in a long time that has me this conflicted. On one hand, Dead Space Extraction is everything I hate about the Wii. It’s taking a great game, and dumbing it down to a first person, on the rails shooter. On the other, it’s clearly the best looking game ever for the Wii, and I can foresee it being extremely enjoyable dismembering a zombie alien with the Ripper, using the Wiimote to precisely guide the blade.

I guess it’s all going to come down to execution. The game will rock if it employs Motion Plus’ 1:1 controls, and it’s not an Olympian feat to actually hit where you’re aiming. Secondly, if they avoid having the Wiimote icon pop up on the screen everytime you’re suppose to waggle your way out of a situation, they won’t break the dramatic tension that made the original Dead Space great.

So yeah, overall I guess I’m leaning towards a (sigh) positive outlook on the game, and anyone who knows me will attest that me saying something positive about the Wii occurs about as often as Sean Hannity goes on picnics with Barack Obama, but I guess there’s a first time for everything.
