Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives Slowly Imploding, Much to My Delight

I have a rule that if a show can’t hook me in the first four episodes, it’s simply not worth watching. This rule is how I got into Lost, Battlestar Galactica, The Office and countless other phenomenal shows. Not one to discriminate, I tried the first four of both Grey’s and Desperate Housewives, where I discovered they were simply not good. Not well acted, not well written, none of it. You may claim that they’re “not for me” but I can understand the difference between a good show and a bad one, even if I’m not the target audience. For example, I recognize that Sex in the City is a very well written show. I simply don’t watch it because the subject matter doesn’t interest me in the slightest.
So as you can imagine, I am delighted to see these two shows be gutted from the inside out. Nicolette Sheridan is leaving Desperate Housewives and Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving Grey’s Anatomy. Sure, this jumping of ship won’t spell the certain end for either of the two programs, but it should make clear that cancellation is somwhere on the horizon. I mean, once you start having sex with ghosts, it’s all kind of downhill from there.
Hopefully both will die off and make room for better shows. Either that, or Howie Mandel will manage to sneak himself into another reality show. Either option is better than ghost sex.
