I don’t really know how to express anything but complete wonderment at this whole Inglorious Basterd‘s project. Tarantino doing WWII is…I don’t even know, words can’t describe it. His style seems incredibly out of place here, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Lord knows the WWII genre has been done to death with traditional means, so a change-up can’t hurt, right?

The jist of the film appears to be about an American terror squad that goes around brutalizing Nazis to “send a message.” This message usually says “surrender or we’ll play T-ball with your head or carve a swastika into your face.” And who better to carry out such techniques than Hostel director Eli Roth, who actually became an actor just so he could fulfill his lifelong goal of torturing people on screen and being lauded as a hero for it.

Also making a jarring appearence for two seconds is Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak) from The Office. Uh, sure, why not. But tell him once this is over, he needs to come back to the show. He is missed.
