A Wonderfully Fun Collection of Movie Decapitations

When it comes to movie deaths, decapitation is the best.  There’s something horrifying and at the same time incredibly mildly humorous about a head being severed from a body.  When someone gets their head chopped off, the audience tends to remember that scene.  To be honest, there’s a lot of movie decapitations that I wanted to include in this article (like, say, when Seth Gecko removes Sex Machine’s head with a whip in From Dusk Till Dawn), but I just couldn’t find the video clips.  Sure, I could post a pic and describe the beheading, but what’s the fun in that if you can’t watch along with me?  After the jump, take a look at a wonderfully fun collection of movie decapitations:

The Omen

This clip is from the original Omen and reminds me of a scene from one of the Final Destination movies.  The head bouncing around after its severed is a nice effect.

Deep Red

You know it’s bad news for this woman once her necklace gets stuck.  The necklace must have been made of adamantium for it to not snap apart.

Battle of Shaolin

A decent decapitation, but the airbourne head makes it worth watching (and giggling over).  For some reason the video won’t work on this site but you can view it here.

300

300 was over-the-top violence the entire way through, so it’s not surprising that there were decapitations in this overrated movie.  Yes, overrated - all style, zero substance.  I didn’t say it wasn’t fun, though.

30 Days of Nights

This is perhaps the most disturbing decapitation from the clips I posted.  The sound coupled with the fact that it takes a few hacks to chop the head off make it seem a lot realer than the others.

Braveheart

Alright, there’s nothing really amusing about the execution of William Wallace, but I felt obliged to include this clip because of how memorable it is.

Apocalypto

More Mel Gibson, and more decapitations!  This lucky subject has the good fortune of having his heart removed before his head is chopped off and rolled down hundreds of stairs.

Clash of the Titans

Perseus owns Medusa.

Prom Night

They say that when your head is chopped off, your brain continues to function for a few seconds afterward.  If that’s the case, then the victim in this clip must be wondering why the hell everyone seems so tall all of a sudden.

Revenge of the Sith

The clip is in French, but Anakin still decapitates Count Dooku.  Dooku was a great character; I wish they did more with him in the prequels.  Ah well.

I hope you enjoyed these decapitation clips as much as I did.  If you managed to find some other great clips, go ahead and post them in the comments section.  Even if you can’t find clips of your favorite decapitations, hit me up and let me know what they are!
