Mickey Rourke vs. Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania, Yes You Read That Correctly

In a bit of news I can eloquently sum up as “WTF?” it’s being reported that Mickey Rourke has agreed to wrestle at the WWE’s 25th Wrestlemania event in Texas in April. Uhh wow. Let’s have Mickey elaborate.

“The boys from the WWE called me and asked me to do it…I said, ‘I want to.’ I’m talking with Rowdy Roddy Piper about it… Chris Jericho, you better get in shape. Because I’m coming after your ass.”

So theoretically, we could see an Academy Award winning actor grappling in tights with Chris Jericho come April. Can I just say, awesome? It’s cool to see a great actor not take himself so seriously for a change, even though he’s most likely getting paid an absurd amount of money to do so (probably more than the chump change he was offered to be in Iron Man 2). And think about that for a second, Mickey Rourke vs. Chris Jericho? I’d only be more excited if it was Russell Crowe vs. Triple H. But to continue with that train of thought, wouldn’t that be like asking Crowe to compete in an actual gladiator arena match because he did it really well in a movie?

For the grand finale, Rourke should pull out his Oscar from under the stage and beat Jericho senseless with it. It would probably be the single greatest moment in professional wrestling history. And in Oscar history.

if i’m not mistaken, the last non-athlete celebrity to be involved in wrestlemania was donald trump, though, he didn’t wrestle, i believe he “laid out” mcmahon.
