Movies with co existing brands (ie DC) never get nominations, ledger will win for SURE. That will be the atonement, he stole the movie, and should take the oscar post mortem for his flawless performance that in the end, made the movie. In the end, i feel that Nolan is screwed, the movie was fantastic, maybe every part wasn't double grade A beef, but in the end, the "orchestra" played a fantastic song. Agreed with both of the previous posters, it was great in my eyes, but when has a movie that i loved (ie iron man, or pulp fiction, SHAWSHANK? even big leboski lol…) ever get a nomination like best picture. The settings weren't as polished as in batman begins, it was like "Batman meets Chicago", and i felt like the Gotham feel was gone from it. Heath got the nomination because his performance was exceptional and everyone else was outdone. All Christian Bale did was growl in his emphysema language the whole movie. I have to say it, but Maggie Gyllenhall just isn't attractive, and she didn't really do much. So all in all, I think, as far as The Dark Knight is concerned, it got it's nominations accordingly. This has been the case with the Academy for a very long time. Movies are released at Christmas to win Oscars and it's what the Academy voters think of when they cast their ballots.
