Dakota Fanning to Play Terrifying Tween Vampire? Not Exactly a Stretch

“Dakota you didn’t have to come in full makeup….oh.”

Rumor has it that Dakota Fanning has been straight up offered the role of Jane in New Moon, also known as Twilight Part Deux. Jane is an “angel faced,” Italian, blonde, teen vampire that all the big vampires are afraid of for some reason or another. Totally didn’t steal that from Interview with the Vampire. I mean, was Kirsten Dunst Italian? I don’t think so.

Dakota is currently putting on her big girl pants in Push, the Heroes-esque everyman superhero flick where she plays a future-seeing freedom fighter bent on stopping…well, something. Dakota Fanning has bothered me something awful ever since I listened to her scream for two straight hours in War of the Worlds, but I think it’s pretty appropriate casting here. She has Haley Joel Osment syndrome where she’s grown up just enough to look creepy, but we still know who she is. The go-to plan for child actors should be act until you’re ten, then disappear for twenty years and come back as Neil Patrick Harris.

Thank you! I found someone who hates (or at least dislikes) Dakota Fanning because she ruined “War of the Worlds”. I wanted to warp into the movie (some how) and beat the crap out of her to shut her up.

Yeah, I agree. She really pissed me off in “War of the Worlds” but I still liked the film.

Well, movies are a director’s medium, not a actors. And it seems blaming any actor for their performance is irrational, ecspecially with a veteran director like Spielberg at the helm. Has anyone thought that the reason why she was screaming through the movie was because Spielberg instructed her to do so? There are no actors working that would question Spielberg’s demands, certainly not Fanning. Speilberg oversaw her performance, Tom Cruise, an actor who is as powerful and dictatorial as any actor working, witnessed her performance, and that is what you see on film. I’m not a Fanning fan, but if anyone deserves blame for Fanning’s performance in WOTW then it would have to be Spielberg.
