New Street Fighter Poster Negates All My Worries

Just kidding. I mean look at it. But to be fair, I guess you can’t really call what I’m feeling about the movie “worry” because I was 100% sure it was going to suck after I saw the production stills and 150% sure after I saw the trailer. It does, however, give me a moment to reflect on the cast.

  • Michael Clarke Duncan has clearly come along way since being nominated for an Oscar for The Green Mile. When casting Balrog, there are only a handful of hulking 7-foot black actors to fill the role, almost as many as there are roles for hulking 7-foot black actors to fill, and so he ended up with this job.
  • Vega is Taboo, as in the guy from the Blackeyed Peas. Um, why? Does Vega even talk? I don’t remember. And really, they could have just gotten you know, a martial arts expert to play him and if they really, really were craving Taboo’s smooth rhythmic vocal sounds, they could have had him do voiceover. It’s not like they would even have to lip synch.
  • Kristin Kreuk is hot, yes we know. As is the chick playing Maya who’s name is Moon Bloodgood, which is thoroughly awesome.
  • Is that…is that Chris Klein? What the hell is he doing in this movie? The last thing I remember seeing him in was Rollerball, and it wasn’t until about the last 10 minutes of the movie that I realized he wasn’t Keanu Reeves.
  • M. Bison is “that guy.” You know “that guy” you’ve seen play the creepy off-kilter role in every movie and show from Band of Brothers to 88 Minutes to Traveler? Yes, I watched Traveler.

I honestly can’t wait for this movie because I’m slowly begining to feel the tremors of what a trainwreck it’s clearly going to be.
