Mom Destroys Wii with Unrivaled Technological Ignorance

Published by Paul Tassi under Oddly Enough,Video Games

nintendo wii copy

People are debating the validity of this NeoGAF post, which details how a very igorant Mom destroyed a brand new Wii, but I’m inclined to believe it. I’ve got an aunt I can easily see doing something like this, and I’m sure many of you know some technical illiterates who might as well. Observe:

“…Mom asks me what VC is, and I told her. I told her that all she needed to do was put in her credit card when prompted on the Shop Channel, and get the amount of points she wanted. I also told her what WiiSpeak is, and how to connect her Wii to the internet via an ethernet connection.Anywho, I got a call today from the mom telling me that the Wii is not working. I asked what was wrong and you won’t believe it………

SHE PHYSICALLY PUT 3 CREDIT CARDS INTO THE DISC SLOT.
HOW STUPID DO YOU HAVE TO BE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Also while putting the Wii Speak on top of her sensor bar, she apparently cracked it open. Just ugh. I told her she has to cancel her cards and call Nintendo for a 75USD repair, and now she expects ME to pay for this. Her husband is on my side of the issue, but she is steaming at me right now. Seriously, she put in 1, and thought that that one could not be accepted, so she kept putting them in and they will not come out.”

Good Lord, I’ve heard of five year olds stuffing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches into a Sega Genesis, but this is something else entirely. Do you think this is legit? I do. As they say, “you can’t write stuff like this” and honestly it’s not as far-fetched for someone who’s a complete tech retard. Alright I’m off to buy a game on XBLA by ramming quarters into the hard drive.

8 Movies That Had Great Twist Endings (That You didn’t Figure Out)

Published by Nattyb under Lists,Movies

Twist Endings

I’m as big a fan of movies with twist endings as anyone else.  However, I think there’s something to be said about a quality movie with a twist ending and then movies that just put in stupid twists for the hell of it.  The former is what we’re talking about here.  The latter can go eat it.

And I’m talking about the movies where there’s just no way you saw it coming, even though the movie gave you clues the whole way.  When a movie does that and you still haven’t figured it out, then you know they’ve really accomplished something.

Here are 8 movies where the twist endings are amazing and I refuse to believe that any of you were able to figure them out the first time you saw these flicks.

Unreal Movie Review: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Published by Madison under Movies,Reviews

David Fincher has long been my favorite director, so it’s understandable that I have never been as anxious for the release of a film as I was for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  Loosely based on the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ben Button is the tale of an individual who begins life as an old man and ages backwards.  Tons of hype surrounded this movie, but was this film Fincher’s magnum opus?  Perhaps – it’s possibly Fincher’s most well-made film, although it does have a few minor flaws.  Keep reading for my full review of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (major spoilers):     Continue Reading »

Amateur Superheroes are on the Rise

Published by Nattyb under Morning Link

Superman

They walk among us, selflessly fighting street crime on our behalf — average, every-day people who decide to don spandex or rubber suits and take on names like “Terrifica,” “Mr. Silent” and “Citizen Prime.” And their ranks are evidently growing.

I suppose in this economy people in the U.S. must think the country needs a superhero.  Not sure if this is the way to go about it.

Unreal Movie Review: Frost/Nixon

Published by Paul Tassi under Movies,Reviews

Nixon begins the mind games with the old “you’ve got something on your shirt” trick.

Making a movie about an interview sounds as exciting as well, watching a movie about an interview. Would you pay to see, Stewart/O’Reilly, King/Hilton or Lauer/Cruise on the big screen? I don’t think so. But the David Frost/Richard Nixon interview has much more historical significance than any of those. Although that Tom Cruise one was pretty epic.

As someone who has never heard of David Frost and was playing with Ninja Turtles action figures when Richard Nixon died in 1994, I wasn’t sure if Frost/Nixon would have any sort of impact on me. But that’s kind of like saying I can’t appreciate Gladiator because I was born when indoor plumbing had been invented.

The Laughably Bad Dark Path Chronicles – Part 3

Published by Madison under Reviews

Fear

We know you’ve all been waiting for this one.  There’s zero doubt in my mind that the first two have blown you away.  Can you feel it?  Can you just feel it in the air?

It’s the stench of poor production value.

Let’s go inside and see!

10 Classic Movie Clips of Jack Nicholson

Published by Nattyb under Movies

Shining

Jack Nicholson is clearly one of the better actors in the last 100 years and it’s tough to mention great acting performances without bringing his name up at least once.  What amazes me is that Nicholson has been doing this for over 50 years, and successfully no less.

His resume is top notch and it’s rare to see him in a dud film.  And while the man keeps pressing on and looking slick at Laker games, I can’t help but to appreciate the massive amount of work he’s done in Hollywood.

Here are 10 classic movie clips of Jack.

Bungie Releases First Halo 3: ODST Concept Art Gallery

Published by Paul Tassi under News,Video Games

halo23

Bungie has just posted an extensive gallery of Halo 3: Recon ODST concept art. It showcases everything from new armor designs to new environments to new weapons. I especially like what appears to be the silenced SMG shown above. Could Halo possibly be going stealth? I’m not sure how I feel about that.

Also in ODST, rumor has it that since you’re not a Spartan, you can’t do special Spartan things like jump really high or have energy shields. That reminds of oh, I don’t know, Call of Duty? Bungie needs to watch it, just because COD has been a massive hit everywhere, it doesn’t mean they should change their own massive hit to better fall in line with “real world” physics and practicalities.

$20 to the first person to tell me what “ODST” stands for.
