Despite an unruly amount of Jack Blackitude and horrendous Mall Cop plugs, the VGAs were actually good for one thing: new game trailers. Here are the four highlights everyone is talking about today:

God of War 3

This game was hyped by it’s creators as “the best graphics ever seen” and “a portrait brought to life.” Uh huh. Well with the first “gameplay” trailer debuting last night, I think it’s fair to say everyone is underwhelmed. Yeah,it looks good, but my jaw wasn’t on the floor like during the Final Fantasy XIII trailer. And I’m really not sure how much “gameplay” was actually shown here. All this aside, the game is clearly going to be awesome. I just hope it’s more than 10 hours long this time.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and the Damned

Fantastic. That’s all I’ve got to say. Being a member of a biker gang is a badass idea to begin with, and through in GTA gameplay and you’ve got yourself what could be the most promising bit of DLC since DLC was invented. My only hesitation is that they’re going to make you drive around on those big Harley bikes that are insanely hard to control. Give me a crotch rocket!

Dante’s Inferno

What the…? I’m not really sure what to make of this. It’s like a ton of concept art images then what appears to be shredder stabbing a zombie in the head with a cross. Since there was zero gameplay footage I’m going to have to go ahead and assume this is going to be pretty God of War-ish. But hasn’t Kratos gone to hell to kill stuff like every game so far? Also: The movie rights to this game have already been sold. I’m not joking. Someone must have been damn impressed by that concept art.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I never played the first Uncharted, but I heard it was pretty sweet. And from this short cutscene trailer, I already like the main guy. What’s his name? Drake? If the bank would approve my loan so I could go buy a PS3 I might totally do it so I can play this and GOW III. The VGA’s were a pretty good night for Sony huh? Well, at least trailer wise.
