Twenty Awesome Aliens in Movies

Published by at 10:45 am under Lists,Movies

Alien

There’s an allure about beings from another planet.  We as humans are always interested in the unknown, and since the time of our grandparents, cinema has been infatuated with this unknown as well.

Whether it’s an invasion of saucers, or a disgusting drool filled creature, aliens have been a staple in movies for a long time.  I’ve decided to select twenty out of this world beings that I personally think are awesome.

Ranging from completely badass to completely ridiculous, here are my favorite 20 aliens in movies.

Predator

Aliens in Movies

Hands down one of the best, if not the best alien in all of cinema.  The face, the body, the strength, the disguise, hell even the fact that he self destructs which causes a mushroom cloud is badass.  “what da hell arrrre you.”  And that sinister laugh…forget about it.

Alien

Aliens in Movies

I’m scared just looking at this picture.  This “perfect” life form will forever be burned into the brains of any person that sees any of the Alien movies.   Unstoppable.

ET

Aliens in Movies

The cutest, lovable little child alien, ET.  “ET phone home.”  ET sticks out his middle finger and it lights up.  ET can make bicycles fly.  ET has that cute walk and long neck.  He’s so funny!  I love ET.

Starman

Aliens in Movies

Jeff Bridges was awesome in this movie.  I’d have to say my favorite part is when he sings “New York New York” in the car.  It’s incredible.  That and when he punches that redneck and spits blood.

Water in the Abyss

Aliens in Movies

This is Cameron using that liquid effect before Terminator 2.  Everything about The Abyss is awesome.  And these aliens that can manipulate water are no exception.

Edgar in Men in Black

Aliens in Movies

I mean who wouldn’t love a giant cockroach that can squeeze into Vincent D’Onofrio’s skin?

Three Boobed Chick in Total Recall

Aliens in Movies

Three of them?  Enough Said.

Space Pirates in Fifth Element

Aliens in Movies

I’m actually a fan of how dumb these guys are.  I love the scene when they’re all playing with that crazy gun that Zorg sells to them.  Plus they just look funny.

Meathead in Meatballs 2

Aliens in Movies

Perhaps my favorite alien in any movie, Meathead is the spoof of ET.  All he wants to do is fit in at summer camp.  And clearly you can see that his gray rubbery body doesn’t help.  Oh wait, put on a rain hat!  Perfect, now he’s assimilated.

Jeriba Shigan in Enemy Mine

Aliens in Movies

Louis Gossett Jr.  Enemy Mine is a mixed bag in my opinion.  Some people love the flick and some hate it.  I’ll let the readers argue this one out.

Kitty in Cocoon

Aliens in Movies

Played by Raquel Welch’s daughter Tahnee.  The fact that Tahnee posed nude in Playboy is reason enough for this addition.  Plus I love the term “Share Ourselves” meaning to have sex.

Grig in The Last Starfighter

Aliens in Movies

This is another movie that gets a mixed bag of reviews.  Although there’s tons of high comedy in this flick.  Grig is clearly one of the reasons this movie gets a thumbs up in my opinion.

Wiploc in Earth Girls are Easy

Aliens in Movies

Played by Jim Carrey (the red one).  You actually get a chance to see Carrey being pretty funny at times.  The movie is of course, horrible, but he and Damon Waynes are actually good in this flick.

Martian Call Girl in Mars Attacks

Aliens in Movies

A martian hooker?  Enough said.

Marybeth Hutchinson in The Faculty

Aliens in Movies

Played by Laura Harris.  Look man, you see her naked one second and then she’s the queen alien in the next.  That’s pretty impressive in my book.

Phil Gordian in The Arrival

Aliens in Movies

Ron Silver is perhaps one of the most underrated prick actors of our time.  I hate him in every single movie I’ve seen him in.  Which to me means he’s doing his job.  Same goes for The Arrival, which I think is a very underrated Sci-Fi flick.

Robert in Village of the Damned – 1995

Aliens in Movies

Played by Cody Darkin (guy on the right), Also check out David played by Thomas Dekker who is now in Sarah Conner Chronicles but used to be in Seinfeld.  These kids are badass, period.

Celeste Martin in My Stepmother is an Alien

Aliens in Movies

Hot chick as an alien?  You know my policy.

Sil in Species

Aliens in Movies

See comment above.

Jabba the Hut

Aliens in Movies

You didn’t think I’d leave this guy out did you?

Were those kids from Children of the Damned aliens?

  • http://www.trainwreckideas.com Jay

    And what about Superman?
Isn’t he really the coolest alien of them all?

  • nope

    coneheads???

  • spaz

    brother from another planet…

  • http://weavermultimedia.com Steveo Weaveo

I think my favorite is the Alien in “Aurora Encounter.” It was Mickey Hys, who had the disease Progeria, an extremely rare genetic disease of childhood characterized by dramatic, premature aging.

  • ericdano

None of the aliens from Farscape? This list fails.

  • dweep

    Pizza the hut!

  • Bob

No you fail for watching farscape.

  • BradB

Coneheads should be on there probably.

  • DW

  • http://bourbonasylum.blogspot.com Gonz O’Lager

What about the Vogons from the Hitchhiker’s Guide movie?

  • Kell

Can’t believe you left out Jar Jar…

  • ConanOfCimmeria

Superman is possibly the lamest alien of them all.

  • Greg

    GONZO BABY!!!
That scorpion-like thing at the end of Howard the Duck was pretty cool, especially considering that those were pre-CGI days…. speaking of things… THE THING was pretty freaking badass as well. That would be a good remake… IMAO

  • tsudeki

What about Prot from K-Pax? :3

  • drunko

What, no Lectroids from “The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.”

John Bigbooté: “It’s not my planet, monkeyboy!”

  • JoAT

“The Thing” was a remake of a 1951 movie, so is a remake of a remake really needed?

    Other honorable mentions:
    Khan (Star Trek II)
    The Blob
    Critters
The fat alien (From “The explorers”)
    Kevin Spacey (K-PAX)
    Riddick
    ‘Bugs’ (Starship Troopers)

  • Photogramous

    What about Klaatu.

  • WHERE’S YODA?!?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!?!!

Man, I can’t believe they left Yoda out of this list!!

    IT’S A TRAP!!!

  • Todd

Good call on “The Arrival,” and for your points on Ron Silver. He is a an awesome prick actor.

  • Volgons

Volgons from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Perhaps the best part of the movie.

  • ulysess

Do you remember ‘MAC and Me’?

oh, and something’s wrong with this page. i clicked on ‘…..weapons’ but ‘….bad guy wins keeps coming up

  • freekasaur

I have to be a nerd here and say that the 3 boobed chick from Total Recall is a mutant and not an alien. The only Aliens in that movie have been long dead.

Non the less, thank you for putting her on the list anyways.

  • http://ramblingjohnny22.blogspot.com/ Rambling Johnny

The Borg from Star Trek First contact now that an alien race you don’t want to mess with.

  • http://www.mymonavie.com/richardflores Rich

What Johnny said, where’s the Borg!

  • farkburger

    @JoAt or however it’s spelled:

    Khan was a human.

  • Akatsuki

Maby i’m the only person who watches naruto shippuden here, but for Village of the dammed, am I the only one who thought, ‘omfg its hidan!’ ?

  • Clerg

This list is missing The Silver Surfer. Also, there were no aliens in the movie The Abyss, it’s what the movie was about; unknown creatures discovered in the depths of our own ocean. The “water worm” that you have shown is simply a way for the creatures to look at things above water. (Like a Navy RC Submarine for us.)

  • addie

what about the aliens on flight of the navigator?!?! they were so cute, except for that one that was sick…

  • billafu

The space pirates in “The Fifth Element” are called Mangalores.

  • kyle

were is alf on that list you know the little hairy thing

  • savant

    Clerg,

You are correct about the Water Worm not being an Alien, but the things controlling it were… Clue…. Big Space Ship emerges from the water…

  • chaosican

    Khan = genetically enhanced superhuman
    3 boob chick = mutant

if you are going to do spaceballs Baarf :)

  • http://www.genesispure.com/patrickscafe Patrick

    Three sugggestions:
Alf – the loveable cat eater
Mork – why not, it launched his career
    Borg Queen

OMG – Obama has been assimilated!

  • Me8993

I’d have sex with Natasha Henstridge, even knowing she is an alien!!! Wow!

  • vincent

How about Harry Henderson? I know he isn’t an Alien or is he?
Anyway he is the funniest and coolest and warmest.

  • http://davereed.tumblr.com reed

What about the villain in Galaxy Quest? I think he beats out a lot of things on this list

Two words: Time Lords. (And yes there have been Dr. Who features, even if they were knock-offs designed to give Peter Cushing something to do between stints as Van Helsing.)

  • Hawker

    What about MORK

  • FrankenPC

    What happened to the Thing?

You forgot, “The Creature from the Black Lagoon”, “The Body Snatchers” (The Original) and this old black and white movie that was the predecessor to the Alien movies (can’t remember the name), where the creature boards the ship and try to destroy all on aboard. Back in the 50’s?????

  • Slayer

The creature from the black lagoon isn’t an alien, he was discovered on an expedition through the Amazon, and is a missing link in the evolutionary chain. Alien was heavily inspired by The Thing From Another World

  • DavidH

General Zod says this list needs to kneel before him!

How is Superman not on this list?

  • ian

Oh come on…. no Chewie! Now that’s just plain wrong.

  • calin

The wicked men in black from Dark City ?

    They can Tune! :)

  • ironic0n

    thanks man, cute collection.
the sign that that’s good job – i’m wishing to do something too, to arrange funny reviews. to make funny subtitles for flicks..

  • http://www.geekjane.com a. jane

Great list. The Thing and the alien Christopher Johnson (and son) from District 9 would be my only additions.

  • phil

ITS A TARP!! ALL ALIENS ARE AWESOME!

    F*CK E.T.!!

  • Dan

What about Start trak alliens, there are a lot of them in this zaga being Mr spoke the most known of them

  • Mike

You started off going pretty good with horror aliens and then turned for the worse just going into average or funny aliens. If your gonna rock out the Predator and Alien then you should keep all the creatures in a horror base system. Once you start comparing them to other things then you lose thier worth as vile aggressive monsters.

  • Kat

holy donkey balls you left out my favorite aliens ever! the clowns from killer clowns from outer space, yea they were retarded but COME ON their flippin clowns what could be better then that lmao =] and how they turn people into kotton kandy and pop corn i think anyways lmao their awesome as hell =]

  • Dave

WHERE’S YODA said, “Man, I can’t believe they left Yoda out of this list!! IT’S A TRAP!!!”

Yoda never said, “it’s a trap”.
    It was Admiral Ackbar

  • Oktober

    peppersax,
the “old black and white movie that was the predecessor to the Alien movies (can’t remember the name), where the creature boards the ship and try to destroy all on aboard”

was IT! THE TERROR FROM BEYOND SPACE
Terrified me when I was 8 years old.

My favorite aliens – THE EYE CREATURES – especially the one with only half an alien costume and black leotards.

  • Bob

Technically, everyone in Star Wars is an alien since it is a galaxy far far away.

  • Hoost

The alien monster in Outlander is the best I’ve seen in a recent film. Awesome creature design and sound design. Worth seeing just for the creature.

  • Feh

    Shai Hulud!

  • Paul

    What? No Daleks?

  • ThePoorie

They get inside of you, grow horribly fast & come spattering out in a flood of gore. Children are the worst aliens of all!
Smart kids give me a pain.

  • http://www.creativedogs.net Luis Lopez

    Spock rulez too.

If we talk about series, I cant say the faceless rebel aliens of Xfiles or the colonists. And Diana of V

  • Wolf

Some good variety on your list, but i thought the alien from “the thing” would have been worth a mention
