New Che Trailer Makes Me Want to Buy a Hipster T-Shirt
Alright, so Stephen Soderbergh’s new film Che is getting rave reviews from well, everywhere. Benicio Del Toro plays the iconic rebel leader, and as the trailer shows, is something of a badass. The movie comes out in select theaters a week, which is why I find it strange that we’re just now seeing the first trailer for it. Damn independent movies.
From the rave reviews buried inside the trailer, I was worried that we might have another Oscar contender on our hands, but then when I went over to its IMDB page (where it’s called Guerilla), I saw that based on 900 votes it’s only at a 6.9. What the hell movie did A.O. Scott see then? This could amount to an Oscar nom for Del Toro, but I think it’s unlikely it’ll make a run for Best Picture, meaning our precious Dark Knight is safe. But hey, what do I know? Remember when Crash won? God.
