I have no problem with this new still from Empire of Gambit in the new Wolverine movie. It’s some long-haired dude I’ve never seen before in a purple shirt and vest, and I guess that’s really all I could expect. Sure, in the comic he wears a pink breastplate, face-engulfing spandex and has red glowing eyes, but I’m not going to fault anyone for “not staying true to the source material” here. We can see he’s got cards, and if they just give him a trenchcoat and a staff, that’s really all I need.

Gambit has actually been my favorite X-Man since birth, even surpassing Wolverine. I was always him in all the video games (Children of the Atom, Marvel vs. Capcom), and he always won all my fearsome action-figure battles (he just held onto the other guy until he blew up). I honestly wouldn’t mind if he got his own spinoff, although I think that Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool is a much more likely scenario.
