Why he’s our hero:  Marcus Fenix may not have the most dimensions of all the video game heroes out there, but the fact that he both talks AND you can see his face earns him about +10 charisma points right there. In Gears 2 he puts up with his highly incompetent Delta squadmates to make sure that humanity doesn’t become extinct. Again.

This time around he made his adventures much more than trekking through demolished house after demolished house, he was joyriding around on Centaurs and surfing on the back of Reavers, making Gears 2 a great deal more fun than it’s previous iteration. Now if only he got to use the Hammer of Dawn for more than ten minutes…
