Seriously? Gears has a halfway decent mythology behind it and halo doesn’t? I am a halo fan because of it’s solid controls that hooked me from the first game, but even though the story could use some work, the mythology was good, especial from the expanded universe. I have played through the first and second gears games and they have incomprehensible plots, with the characters going places for reasons that are not fully explained, like they made it up on the way there. “buff guys shooting alien” Armored suit shooting aliens. And halo has color.

Part of me is super excited for a Halo movie. The commericals for the games, the live action ones, are amazing! I don’t care what anyone else thinks of them, they look fantastic. I’d love to see it adapted for the silver screen. Granted, it would be a blockbuster, with no real substance, but I’d pay to see it. I love the games, and if they smush them all together, trying to defeat the covenant and all that, it could be pretty decent. What blockbusters aren’t primarily dudes blowing shit up? The CG could work, I mean, look at Avatar. That works. I really want to see HALO, I don’t know much about the other games, other than the Sims, which is just a dumbass idea, honestly. But I disagree with you on Halo, as you can tell by my rant. But I respect the opinion!

I think that the Dead Space one DEFINITELY could work and they could make it scary as all hell too.
However, I 100% agree with you on the others. Like for example, the Mass Effect one. Probably the biggest two reasons (like you stated) are the choice system and the fact that Mass Effect already has a better storyline then dozens of Sci-Fi movies out there.

i think a good game/movie would be tom clacny’s: endwar.

but if they f**k that up then there will never be a good game/movie again. its just…impossible to make a good movie based on a game if you couldnt get endwar right. i wonder if they ever play the games they’re making
