Winner: The Prawn Costume

Published by Paul Tassi under Images, Movies

prawn1.jpg

I’ll be honest, when I requested a Prawn costume while writing my “Best Halloween Costumes of 2009″ post, I didn’t really think anyone would come through. Thankfully, I misunderestimated our readers, and Ian sent in this kickass costume he made from scratch…in only 120 hours. Wow. But yeah, it definitely paid off. My plan was to cut the claw off a lobster costume and put a yellow contact in one eye, but this is way, way better. This “submit your costumes” thing wasn’t really a contest. Until now, because Ian wins.

There’s one more full length photo of the prawn after the jump, and go here to see a full photo documentary as to just how this thing was made.

The Final Countdown: Sexy Snow Whites, Badass Electricity Tricks, and Cinematic Boxes

From Manofest:  She was like Mary Ann from Gilligan’s Island, Daisy Duke and Erin Grey from Buck Rogers all wrapped into one. I think the appeal of Snow White is that she was so damn innocent and one of those girls that seemed practically unattainable unless you were a prince with a full set of STD records and enough money to by Romania

The Onion Gets Its Own TV Show

Published by Paul Tassi under News, Television

theonion.jpg

I have been saying this FOREVER. The Onion is FINALLY getting it’s very own half hour TV show on Comedy Central, in a new deal reported by THR. Sadly, no credit is being given to me, the person who has been saying this for years, but hey, whatever, as long as it’s happening.

I’ve long believed The Onion would be a perfect companion piece to Stewart and Colbert as it’s PURE satire, and would be one level past Colbert on that spectrum of news reporting with seemingly legitimate news reporters, graphics and sets, all reporting on purely fictional news.

Wait, what’s that? The series is to be based soley on the Onion Sports Network and will only cover sports?

WHAT THE **** GUYS, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Photorealistic Star Wars Art the Coolest Thing You’ll See Today

Published by Paul Tassi under Images, Movies

star-wars1.jpg

This is a gallery of excellent work from Christian Waggoner, which is a series of photorealistic painting depicting various characters in the Star Wars universe. The man is a professional painter (clearly) who turned from typical art to Star Wars in 2007. I’ve posted his takes on Greedo, Vader and a Stormtrooper after the jump, and be sure to look for the reflections.

“I love reflections,” he says. “I mean, if you crop one of my paintings, it can be abstract, it can be surreal, it’s a play of light, a play of values, how things get distorted. You can just play around with so much. I’m now trying to take the art to see more hidden things in the reflections that people will catch.” - Chris Waggoner

Unreal Poll: How Long Until Megan Fox Poses Fully Naked?

Published by Nattyb under News

Megan Fox

I’m not sure how many of you follow Megan Fox anymore but it’s become quite comical.  The young actress has recently said that her new life purpose is to help children’s charities.  You’ll have to excuse me while I go laugh my ass off in the other room.

I gotta say for a girl that is this attractive she sure finds ways to make me unattracted to her.   And I tell ya it’s pretty hard to do when you’re THAT hot.  I mean I used to think that Fox was incredible.  And granted I wouldn’t throw her out of bed, she’s just doesn’t to it for me anymore.

I suppose the combination of horrible acting, teasing all of us with her sexual tirades, and talking shit to Michael Bay when she herself has zero talent has kind of gotten to me and altered my perception of her “beauty.”

So with all of this going on and Fox’s inevitable decline into obscurity (at least I think she’s headed there) when does the little lass sell out and bare all for Playboy?

Even better yet, when will she sink into the bowels of the porn industry?

I’m going with 2 years before Hefner scoops her up.  Thoughts?

Leaked ‘Halo Reach’ Screenshots Are Here

Published by Paul Tassi under Images, Video Games

reach6.jpg

Take a gander at this collection of screenshots allegedly from Halo Reach, at least until Bungie yells at me to take them down. They feature a bunch of new-ish guns for the uber-secret game, which appears to be what I would imagine Halo 4 would look like. But if that’s the case, why would they not just be calling it that? Also, the game is supposed to be using a new engine, for whatever reason, and it shows. If these are fake, they’re pretty damn well forged, I’ll say that much.

Check out the rest of the pictures below, while you still can.

A Collection of Really Dumb Warning Labels

Published by Nattyb under Oddly Enough

Warning Label

When manufacturers of certain products need to pass specifications to get their products on the market, one of the requirements is always to put a warning label on the package.  Some things might be dangerous and they can’t be liable if a person sues them for a ridiculous thing they missed.

But sometimes these manufacturers go a little overboard with their labels.  Either that or people out there are so dumb that they actually have to be warned about ridiculous stuff with some of these products.

I’m gonna go with the manufacturers on this one because I think people are just way too stupid.

It’s Always Pretty Funny in Philadelphia

Published by Paul Tassi under Columns, Reviews, Television

always-sunny2.jpg

Well, I just finished another one of my marathon TV series watching sessions. This time it was for the much hyped It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as I was tired of people asking me why me, their friend who watches more TV than anyone they know who actually makes money, doesn’t watch it. I didn’t really have a reason, I haven’t been so much a fan of other FX shows like The Shield and Rescue Me, so I didn’t really think so much of giving an FX comedy a try.

But after two weeks and four and half seasons (right up until last night’s episode), I’ve busted out the entire series thus far, and I have to say, I am most impressed.
I’m told that the creators of the show (and subsequently the actors) set out to create a Curb Your Enthusiasm type pilot, and though that’s what they did at first. They took Curb, ringed out the awkwardness and amped up the crazy into a show that’s much, much more enjoyable to watch.
