The Final Countdown: Robots are Here to Help, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and David Fincher is Everywhere

Twendy-One is 4.8 feet high and 2 feet wide and able to lift up to 77 pounds.  It has four fingers that even have a fingernail to pick up small objects like coins, so my grandma can accuse it of stealing the change off her dresser.  I’m scared.

Oh So THIS is Why We Recycle!

Published by Paul Tassi under Images, Television

I thought we were like, saving the earth and stuff, but thank god we’re actually building giant robots to protect humanity from other evil giant robots. That really makes me want to separate out my cans and bottles.

This Optimus Prime is made out of boat, car, motorcycle, dishwasher and television parts, and has the uncanny ability to attract Asian girls as you can see in this picture and the one below. Hit the jump for two more shots.

Oh also, you can buy him. Only $7,500.

Whoa, Perfect Dark Looks Sexy on XBLA

Published by Paul Tassi under Images, News, Video Games

So I woke up to news that Perfect Dark had been re-released on Xbox Live Arcade, something I knew was coming but didn’t think was happening like, now. This was one of my absolute favorite games growing up, so to see a new version of it here looking pretty is something to behold. The screenshots look real slick, for an upconverted Nintendo 64 game at least, and it’s a little bit reminiscent of newer renderings of Half-Life.

Sadly, I cannot play it yet, as I’m off to Vegas which should be way, way more fun than a Perfect Dark remake (sorry Joanna), but I’ll look forward to trying it out when I get back and start laptop trapping and farsighting bitches. In the meantime, check out Joystiq’s review and take a look at some screenshots.

Lost Review: “Recon”

Published by Paul Tassi under Reviews, Television

lost-recon2.jpg

Alright Lost, you are intriguing me yet again. This week’s Sawyer-centric episode had us hanging with the Not-Locke crew and featured an alterverse episode I didn’t actually hate for once. Not bad Lost, not bad.

Not-Locke has everyone setting up camp uh, somewhere, I’m not sure exactly but it’s all full of trash and random household items. I thought it was 815’s old camp, but isn’t Team Jacob over there right now? Whatever.

This week, Not-Locke has a very special assignment for Sawyer, who has finally shown up after a two week hiatus, along with Jin who has apparently been unconscious for a solid week due to bear trap-related injuries.

Golden Grahams Will Animate Your Tragic Job Search

Published by Nattyb under Videos

How many of you are unemployed? Raise your hands. Err, whatever. Stupid internet. I’ll assume at least some of you are. Probably about 10% in fact. Well, I’ve been there, and it’s thoroughly awful. But one thing that would have made it better? Someone animating my job search.

Golden Grahams is having a thing where if you tell them your job search story and its funny enough, they’ll make it into a commercial like this one. You could be famous! Or at least as sketched version of you could be.

I tried to submit my story about how I didn’t have a job then I started a website, but I think it was too boring. I mean, I started a website with a CYBORG T-REX and we had to fight NAZI PIRATE ZOMBIES to get it online! Super exciting!

A Godly Gallery of Kratos Cosplay

Published by Madison under Images, Video Games

winner2.jpg

God of War III was released yesterday, marking one of the few days of the year that I’m sad I own only an XBox.  I don’t necessarily think the XBox is a better system - I’d rather stab myself in the eyes with infected needles than argue with a fanboy about which system is superior - it’s just the system I happen to own.  I played God of War and God of War 2 (back when I had a roommate with a PS2) and I’m saddened that I’m going to miss out on this one.

But enough about me and my gaming shortcomings.  In an homage to one hell of an game franchise and to one hell of a badass, enjoy this gallery of not-so-easy-to-pull-off Kratos cosplay.

Five Appropriately Titled Blockbuster Signs

Published by Nattyb under Images

Blockbuster Signs

Some may feel this is the beginning of the end for Blockbuster as they continue to shut down store after store.  However I say the end of Blockbuster Video started the second Napster came out and these guys didn’t see any of this coming.

And frankly that was like over 10 years ago.  You would think that maybe in the last 5 years as P2P has been rising and online rentals taking over that they might make some adjustments?

Sure maybe they’re doing some things now on that end but personally I think it’s too late for these guys.  I feel for those lower on the poles losing their jobs but as far as the company going down?  They’re idiots.

As such I’ve located 5 Blockbuster signs that make a whole lot of sense.

The 15 Best Lost Star Trek Fan Collective Boxsets

Published by Nattyb under Lists, Movies, Television

Star Trek Box Set

Some of you might remember in a galaxy far far away that select episodes from all Star Trek series were released in box sets organized around certain themes or characters, such as Q, the Borg, Time Travel, and Klingons.  I hope that most of you enjoyed these wonderful collections of weirdness.

But alas, perhaps these boxsets were on to something.  Perhaps there’s room for many more themes and characters to dedicate these boxsets to.  And from the looks of it, many fans have spoken.

The folks at Something Awful asked it’s base of photoshop freaks to come up with some alternative ideas for these boxsets and I’ve gathered the best 15 I could find.

Enjoy

The Morning Link: The Internet Could Die At Any Moment

Published by Nattyb under Morning Link

Terminator

The Internet was originally invented to be a communication network that could survive a nuclear war. Ironically, the monster that grew from that idea known as the World Wide Web is actually very, very fragile.

They didn’t anticipate what the Internet would become–because they weren’t insane–and as a result, the whole operation now sits on a rather shaky foundation.

Check out 5 reasons the internet could die at any moment
