Is Evolution Really a Choice or Just Natural?

In the wild most Pokemon probably don’t fight one another to the point of one fainting if you think about it, so while they’d age in years they might never get the fight experience needed to level up enough to evolve.

  1. treecko are basically geckos, which means they being so small, don’t hunt as much as more predatory/larger pokemon. Sure, they may do territorial and defensive battles against predators, but if they live in a peaceful enough territory, most members of a colony wouldn’t need to fight. Compare treecko now to another grass starter: Bulbasaur! Its shown that evolution for the bulbasaur species is a matter of, for lack of better word, culture, and doesnt have EXP as NEEDED. Just exposure to a venosaurs pollen. Ash’s bulbasaur was even bullied for not evolving , so that proves evolution is a choice, and some pokemon will place different levels of importance/need to it. In bulbasaurs case, in the wild they are probably prey and need to evolve to survive so any bulbasaur refusing is a weak link. Ash’s however, is happy as he is because he knows he has a trainer/friends to help him. So, all in all, evolution is a survival tactic that different pokemon really use differently.
