When I was a kid, one of my favorite Batman memories involved the campy 1950s movie where Batman tried to escape a shark while hanging on the ladder of his bat-copter. The shark reached up and grabbed his leg, and he sprayed it with “bat-shark repellent” to get it off. I always cracked up at the fact that it was “bat” shark repellent, because of course it just couldn’t have been regular shark repellent.
And that, my friends, is the only tangential connection I can actually make between Batman and sharks, as I try to explain the existence of this series from artist Jeff Victor. He’s remade all the villains of Gotham as funny cartoon sharks, which you can see in the full collection below. Maybe he shares my love for that infamous bat-shark scene, or maybe he’s just crazy. Whatever the case, this exists.
