Anime Cosplay Girls in Tokyo Seem to Fit a Stereotype

I don’t really know how else to say this other than bring up an example from the television show Touch.   If any of you follow that show you might remember this pair of characters.  It’s two Asian girls who have a very upbeat, crazy personality.  They seem to embrace life, technology, and spreading the word about viral videos.   They dress in these crazy clothes, laugh a lot, and smile incessantly.

Now, I’m not sure what the show is trying to convey here.   I’m sure it’s just a cultural thing.   But that begs the question.  Is this the youth of today in Japan?  Honestly I don’t have a clue.  But since we’re into Anime and Cosplay on the site I figured I’d share a batch of photos that displays this subculture of females that may or may not exist in Japan.

Take a look at various cosplay girls at anime shows in Tokyo after the jump.   Is this real?
