Movie Recommendation of the Week: Fandango

The movie Fandango goes back a long way for me.  I first saw it in high school as an adolescent so it really hits home.   When I saw it most recently I realized it wasn’t nearly as good as it was back then, but it’s still a solid flick and definitely a movie I would recommend, hence why it is on this website.

The premise of the movie is pretty simple.  Five college buddies from the University of Texas circa 1971 embark on a final road trip odyssey across the Mexican border before facing up to uncertain futures, in Vietnam and otherwise.   They wind up getting into funny situations and “adventures” if you will in their search for “Dom” and their quest to match up two souls for marriage.

The movie features a young Judd Nelson in his movie debut and Kevin Costner before he was a star.  Also, Suzy Amis is in the film.  There are some other folks who you might recognize as well.

Bottom line, if you’re a college kid you’d probably like this movie.  It’s fun all around.   I think the film tries to get a little deep and hits that emotional chord but only if you let it.  It’s hard to explain.  In any event, give it a shot and let us know what you think.

As you can see, definitely for the younger crowd but fun nonetheless.
