That Guy Actor of the Week: Alan Ruck
It’s funny because I would say 99.9% of the population know the character Cameron from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off but of that percentage I would say another 99.9% probably didn’t know that his real name is Alan Ruck. Not only that but that Ruck has appeared in a number of movie and TV shows.
He’s got 71 credits to his name in IMDB but has made well over 100 appearances over the years. And Ruck is still ticking. It’s hard to believe that Ruck is well into his 50s but I guess time flies.
Personally I liked him in Speed and Three Fugitives. Clearly Cameron is his classic best character though. A clip of Cam

I would say that anyone that watched Spin City knows his name.

Saw Ferris Bueller when I was 12 and my brother was 10 (1996). My brother and I to this day still quote that scene in the car when we get angry. One of us will hit something hard 3 times and shout “GODDAMMIT!!” imitate the sound of the engine running hard (with all the little changes in pitch ie; brrr-br—br—brmmmm) and scream over it.
Yup, he was awesome on Spin City. Not to mention his wife is smokin’ – I think she’s the star of The Killing right now.
He made the short-lived Persons Unknown watchable.

As has been stated, “Spin City” pretty much makes Ruck a non-“That Guy”. Did you miss that show or something “nattyb”?
