If history teaches us anything, it’s that it’s way harder to pick out the good guys from the bad guys than the movies would lead us to believe. In fact, some of history’s most face-blastingly savage regimes came up with some shockingly progressive innovations in health, human rights and, well, everything else.
Heidi Montag — or Heidi Pratt, or Heidi Retard-Pratt, followed up the TEN cosmetic surgeries she underwent in November with the wildly successful release of her new album. We don’t care. But she is kind of hot.
Incredibly, Sunday night brings us the eighth season of 24. It’s tough to believe that Jack Bauer has been braking necks and barking orders for seven seasons already, but nevertheless, here we are. I quit watching 24 last season after just a handful of episodes, mostly because I think the show has become predictable, lazy, and horribly cliched. Long gone are the days of characters actually dying violent deaths (and staying dead) and bombs actually going off. So when 24 premieres on Sunday night, I most likely won’t be watching. It’s going to take an alien invasion, a time-traveling Jack Bauer, or a zombie apocalypse to suck me back into the show that has fallen so far.
Every human encounter with boobs goes something like this… first, the eyes identify them and then they send a message through the optic nerve telling the brain that there are boobs in the area. And then all hell breaks loose.
This is a compare and contrast column like we used to write in English class breaking down two games very near and dear to my heart, Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2. Both are champions of online multiplayer, drawing in an absolute ass-ton of players every day around the world. Halo 3 has been running strong for years, whereas Call of Duty is the new kid on the block, so to speak, but carries a rich tradition behind it.
I’m writing this from the perspective of a somewhat casual player. I’ve maxed out my skill at 35 in Halo 3 and I’m currently like, 25-253 in Call of Duty, but that’s just because I play a lot of free for alls. I’m not great, but I ain’t bad either, and I feel like once you start getting into the “pro” levels of either of these games, things just stop being fun as everyone is just constantly running around with the same gun shooting everyone else between the eyes before you can even blink.
Each game has pros and cons, and I’ve picked three of each as the main points to argue each side. There’s more that can be said for sure, but that’s up to you guys in the comments.
I wrote last week that I don’t think Avatar will suck, and I think there’s a real good chance it’ll go down as one of the best science fiction movies of the decade. Which got me thinking, of course, of how many great or even good science fiction movies there have actually been over the last 10 years. There was a lot of crap released this past decade, but thankfully there were some real gems, too.
There were some movies that I considered science fiction despite their generally not being associated with the genre. Still, they’re science fiction movies at their core and it’d be tough to argue otherwise. I didn’t include superhero movies, even if they could be considered science fiction, because that’s pretty much become a genre in and of itself.
I hope I’m right and that Avatar kicks massive amount of ass. If I’m not, though, this was still a pretty good decade for science fiction movies. I will say, this list was pretty tough to compile. It’s often more difficult to rank movies of a certain category when there are so many good ones. I’m sure your opinions will differ from mine quite a bit.

Some video games today are pretty damn tough (like, for example, the Ninja Gaiden series), but most don’t hold a candle to the difficult games of my childhood. Perhaps it’s the fact that as I’ve gotten older, my eye-hand coordination has improved, but back in the day, games didn’t have different difficulty settings. Furthermore, without the Internet, walkthroughs were non-existent. Some old school games were simply relentless, and only through tears of frustration and sore eyeballs could one persevere.
I imagine a list like this has been compiled before, but as lists like this are very subjective, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to compile one of my own. Keep reading to see the 15 toughest NES games of all time. Keep in mind that they’re my toughest games and are not presented in any particular order.
Sorry for the delay - vacation away from HBO and The Internet - but I finally got down to watching True Blood episode 2.9. It was worth the wait; this was the best episode in weeks. We find out what Godric’s deal is, and we get to see even more sides of Eric. Lafayette gets some action, too, which is always a good thing. Alright, let’s get to it: Keep reading for the full review of True Blood episode 2.9.
Who says a guy and a girl can’t be just friends? While most TV shows have sexual tension being broken left and right, some have it go on forever, or even more impressive, have it not exist at all.
This was a surprisingly hard list to compile, and right off the bat I’m asking for your help to fill me in on the ones I’d missed. It just seems like the guy and the girl always end up together in the end. I’ve found six (ehh, five and half) shows that I think qualify as spotlighting strictly platonic relationship, but even with the massive amount of TV I watch, I couldn’t think of many past these.
But check them out and see if you agree. I think you will.
We’ve shown you a few of the best trailers that have premiered at E3, but now most of the major announcments are over, and it’s time to choose the very best of the best. I’m only breaking this down into two categories, cinematic trailers (which usually feature little to no gameplay) and demos (which features mostly gameplay).
First up we have the winner of the trailer category, and that is without a doubt Bioware’s Star Wars: The Old Republic, their next-gen MMO. I highly recommend you click through the video to watch it in HD, as the battle between the Sith, the Jedi and Bounty Hunters is one of the best action scenes Star Wars has ever seen, and that includes all the movies. It only reinforces the idea that Star Wars is great in spite of George Lucas, not because of him. Can you imagine if we could actually see an Old Republic film series?
